Intention Vows In practice, wedding vows precede the blessing. We normally offer our blessing and support to a person or a couple who have just made a sincere commitment, and called upon those congregated to witness that public commitment. A vow is a statement of intention. A solemn promise made to the world, in front of others. We state our intentions on a daily, almost hourly basis, but undertaking a vow before witnesses lifts it for public gaze and scrutiny. Blessings
